Andinet Los Angeles also known as Kinijit Los Angeles, was officially formed on October 1st, 2006. Our Association's main objective is to support the struggle for basic human rights and democracy in Ethiopia.
During the horrendous crack down after the rigged National Election of May-2005, the winners of the election were imprisoned for 21 months. Much to the dismay of most Ethiopians, they were unable to keep their unity at the time of their release due to the enormous pressure by the dictatorial regime and a few undemocratic members from within.
Hence, they were forced to regroup and form Unity for Democracy and Justice Party (UDJP). They are currently engaged in a selfless face-to-face struggle with the brutal dictatorship of Meles Zenawi to rekindle the hopes for freedom and democracy.
After experiencing the blessing of Liberty in our own lives here in the Diasporas, We can not help yearning for freedom and democracy in our motherland, Ethiopia. The least we can do is provide financial and diplomatic support to those legitimately elected leaders of Ethiopia who are doing their best under extremely difficult conditions.
Our Association attempted to create awareness for the plight of the political prisoners by staging protest rallies, vigils in memory of 2005 massacre, town hall meetings with UDJP leaders, and attempted to cooperate with likeminded groups who believe in the unity and the formation of a new democratic Ethiopia.
We believe a fundamental political change is the only way to redeem our people from the vicious cycle starvation and disease. We welcome anyone who would like to contribute their part towards that fundamental political change in Ethiopia.
